A film that has had fans excited right from the moment of its announcement in late 2019, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Annaatthe under Siva's direction and being produced by Sun Pictures is expected to enter its next leg of filming soon. Rajinikanth had sometime back completed filming his portions at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad, with actress Nayanthara also part of the schedule after which the stars returned to Chennai. Pictures of Rajinikanth coming back in a private jet went viral on social media as the actor's fans once again caught a glimpse of their favorite star. 

Production on Annaatthe is currently on hold due to the lockdown in Tamil Nadu as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which will be in effect till May 31. As the shoot is at present not taking place, it has been revealed that plans for the film's promotions are silently being done by Sun Pictures. Recently, a Sun Pictures team member had met Rajinikanth and tweeted a picture of himself with the superstar on his Twitter page. In his caption, he mentions that the photo was taken during Annaatthe's digital promotions, which he refers to as the most memorable days of his life. Furthermore, he also shared a picture he took with actress Keerthy Suresh, who is speculated to be playing Rajinikanth's sister in the film. 

Fans have been waiting for the Annaatthe first look for a long time and the news of the digital promotions being carried side by side of the production has left many excited.  As of now, it is being stated that the next schedule of the film is expected to take place in Kolkata, with a final decision expected to be taken only after there's a clarity on the COVID-19 situation. Annaatthe's release plan has seen a few changes due to the pandemic and was last announced to  be coming out in theatres as a grand Diwali treat on November 4 this year. Apart from Rajinikanth, Keerthy Suresh and Nayanthara, Annaatthe also stars Khushbu Sundar and Meena, with music being composed by D. Imman.
