According to the law, it requires all doctors and medical facilities to see a patient who is suffering from a medical emergency even if the patient has no ability to pay the anticipated bill. While a doctor has every right to deny treatment for various reasons, they can’t refuse to treat a person with life-threatening or serious injuries even if they don’t have health insurance or the ability to pay. Manish Mundra, a popular Bollywood filmmaker has accused a private hospital for not admitting a young kid who was critically ill. In his statement Mundra said - “What a shame these hospitals are! They refused to start the treatment while we were arranging the money transfer being sat evening. It took us 2 hours to finally credit their account with 2 lacs mean while the kid has slided down to dangerous levels without treatment! Humanity?”

Contrary to Mundra’s statement Rahul Bhargava, a doctor from the private hospital said that the patient wasn’t critical and it was an elective surgery, so the hospital has the rights to deny admitting the kid claimed the doctor. He also added that the hospital is planning to file a defamation case against filmmaker Manish Mundra for his wrongful allegations against the hospital - “False narration. Pt admitted since 1 day for a blocked vp shunt needed elective surgery and 80 percent needed to deposited before surgery. Chronic case so pt was not detoriating.check the facts before bashing. Now hospital is taking opinion for defamation.”

Manish replied to doctor’s defamation statement with a tweet that reads: No comments. Waiting for the defamation suit. Will address them legally. Thanks for preinforming.”
