India has been facing border disputes for a long time now. After long-standing border disputes with our neighbours Pakistan and China, we have recently been facing issues with Nepal as well. With the situation along the India-Nepal border already tense, a shooting incident earlier today has created quite a furore! The Nepal Police are said to have fired on Indian farmers at Sitamarhi village in Bihar and 1 farmer - Nageshwar Rai (25), who was reportedly working on his farm, is said to have lost his life! A total of 17 rounds of bullets are said to have been fired by the Nepal Police!
It is being reported that Shatrugan Rai had been travelling to his in-laws' house situation in a border village on the Nepal side. He is said to have gotten into an altercation with the Nepal Police, who were manning the border checkpost, following which he is said to have been beaten up by the latter. This incident has lead to villagers from neighbouring areas gathering together and protesting against the Nepal Police, which escalated into the shooting incident. There have been claims from Nepal that India has encroached upon its lands while India claims the same about the former. Nepal is planning to have a special Parliament session on Saturday (13/06/2020) to vota on a constitutional amendment for coming out with a new political map of the nation, claiming some key areas of Kalapani, Lipuleh and Limpiyadhura areas. Stay tuned for updates...
