Tamil Nadu is currently placed second in India among the states with the most number of COVID-19 cases, following Maharashtra. The daily surge in the number of cases in TN has peaked at an alarming rate with the state's tally nearing 40,000 cases. Now, in a sudden development, we hear that Dr. Beela Rajesh, who was holding the post of Tamil Nadu's Secretary of Health and Family Welfare has been replaced by senior official J Radhakrishnan, the Special Nodal Officer for Chennai. He will also be holding additional charge as Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Revenue Administration.

Meanwhile, Dr. Beela Rajesh will be taking over as the Commercial Taxes and Revenue Department Secretary from N Muruganandham IAS, who was holding additional charge of this portfolio. Mr. Radhakrishnan was earlier holding the post of Secretary of Health & Family Welfare till February, 2019, when he gave up this post to Dr. Beela and took up the post of Transport Secretary.
