Dr. Kamal Haasan puzzled by Dr. Girish Kasaravalli

Dr. Girish Kasaravalli narrated the following incident at the felicitation given to him by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy on being conferred the Padma Shri.

Dr. Girish Kasaravalli had approached Dr. Kamal Haasan to act in his Kannada film Mane. Kamal was puzzled when Dr. Girish Kasaravalli mentioned the budget of his film: Rs. 8 lakhs. Kamal liked the subject narrated; his only demand was to make the same film in Tamil also. Kamal had even offered to pay Dr. Girish Kasaravalli Rs. 8 lakhs if he would come to Tamil Cinema industry. Very politely, Dr. Girish Kasaravalli turned down Dr. Kamal Haasan's offer. The role offered to Kamal later went to Naseeruddin Shah. Deepti Naval was the heroine of that film.
