Tamil film actor Arun Balaji is known among fans for starring in films like Adra Machan Visilu, Sevarkodi, Summave Aaduvom to name a few. A resident of Chennai, he lives in his own house at V.R. Pillai street in Triplicane, and is into the trade of metals, while also running a fish wholesale supply business. Arun Balaji lives with his mother, who is staying on the ground floor in their house, while he lives on the first floor. 

Arun Balaji had recently made arrangements for the first floor of his house to be renovated and left the city for some personal business a week back and returned on Thursday. However, the actor was in for a shock upon his return to discover that the Rs 50 lakh amount, including five sovereigns of gold he had kept in an almirah had been stolen after which he lodged a complaint at the Anna Square police station. In his statement, Arun said that he suspected the painters who had come to carry out the renovation work in his house. 

Based on the complaint received from Arun Balaji, the police swung into action and headed to T. Nagar where the painters were staying. The painters named Manikandan and Elangovan hailing from Villupuram were then taken to the police station under suspicion of theft. During the investigation, they had revealed that they stole Rs 5 lakhs, following which the police confiscated Rs 67,000 and the five sovereigns of gold. As the investigation into where the rest of the money has gone is still ongoing, the incident has come as a shock to many in the city and the film industry. 

There have been several robberies over the years in the Tamil entertainment industry, with the most recent notable incident being popular TV actress Suchithra stealing from her own house with the help of her husband. She was known for acting in the Tamil serial Deivamagal, which earned huge TRP ratings during its five year run.
