SAD: Thirumalai director Ramana Chandrasekhar's mother-in-law passes away - condolences pour in!

Popular Tamil film director Ramana Chandrasekhar is known among fans for directing 'Thalapathy' Vijay's blockbuster, Thirumalai, which saw the actor getting a radical transformation from his boy-next-door image to an-out-and-out full-time mass action superstar. The 2003 film also starring Jyothika, Raghuvaran, Kausalya among others, and featuring chartbuster music by Vidyasagar turned out to be a box office blockbuster. Ramana followed it up with the Dhanush-starrer Sullan, which achieved a decent response at the box office after which he teamed up once again with Vijay for Aathi in 2006. However, things took a turn for the worse in Ramana's life when he was diagnosed with cancer. The hit director bounced back after getting treated successfully and informed that he had been completely cured of cancer.  

Having said that, Ramana announced on his Facebook page on Tuesday that his mother-in-law Padmavathi Ammal had passed away due to old age at 86. Ramana informed that his mother-in-law was like a mother to him and died due to old age. Posting a photo of the late Padmavathi Ammal, he added that she will continue to live on in their memories as long as they are alive. Director Ramana wrote, "My wife's mother, Thirumathi. Padmavathi Ammal (86), who was also like a mother to me, passed away due to old age today. As long as we are alive, we will remember you fondly in our hearts." Below is his Facebook post: 

Friends and fans, who are following Ramana on social media have been expressing their sorrow and are paying their condolences for his huge personal loss. Many have been sending comforting messages on the comments section and are praying for his family to stay strong at this hour of grief.
