It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,088 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 640,943! Of these, 1,295 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 178,108! Kancheepuram has recorded 137 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 23,120, while 880 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 38,487 total cases of which 2,609 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 34,154 cases with 1,610 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 448 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 363 new cases and Salem recorded 362 new cases!
There have been 68 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,052. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 178,108 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 44,437 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,280! There have been 5,718 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 586,454. There have been 87,341 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 8,044,447 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 85,435 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 7,811,397!
