Oct 07 - TN COVID Update: 5,447 New Cases | 67 New Deaths | Total - 635,855 Cases & 9984 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,447 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 635,855! Of these, 1,369 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 176,779! Kancheepuram has recorded 138 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 23,016, while 895 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 38,103 total cases of which 2,657 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 33,977 cases with 1,732 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 473 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 322 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 324 new cases! 

There have been 67 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,984. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 176,779 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 45,135 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,110! There have been 5,524 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 580,736. There have been 93,242 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,957,106 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
