Thalapathy 68 is AGS Entertainment's second film with Vijay after Bigil (2019), which went on to become a massive box-office money-spinner, and the blockbuster banner will be looking to hit the bullseye once again. The excitement for the upcoming venture has been massive right from the get-go after being announced in May and production is set to kick off in the months ahead, with plans for a grand release in 2024. Thalapathy 68 is incidentally the second time Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the songs and the background score for a Vijay-starrer after Pudhiya Geethai (2003) and fans look forward to the composer delivering an electrifying album.
Yuvan Shankar Raja and Venkat Prabhu have been collaborating since the beginning and have so far worked in films Chennai 600028 (2007), Saroja (2008), Goa (2010), Mankatha (2011), Biriyani (2013), Massu Engira Masilamani (2015), Chennai 600028 II (2016) and Maanaadu (2021), and expectations for their Thalapathy 68 is already sky-high. It is to be noted that Venkat Prabhu's younger brother Premgi Amaren composed the music in the 'Logam' and 'Confession' segments in the anthology film Kutty Story (2021) and the anthology series Victim (2022), the web series Live Telecast (2021), and Manmadha Leelai (2022), while Yuvan had collaborated with his father and legendary composer 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja for Custody, which released earlier this year.
