Producer Archana Kalpathi surprised Tamil cinema fans on Sunday, August 27, by revealing that there's a new big film in development under the prestigious AGS Entertainment banner. Tentatively titled AGS 26, the upcoming project will be produced under Kalpathi. S. Aghoram, Kalpathi. S. Ganesh, and Kalpathi. S. Suresh's AGS Entertainment banner, which will be announced on Monday, August 28, at 6 p.m. Sharing the happy news on X, Archana Kalpathi posted a concept poster featuring a maze for the untitled film and wrote, "Some major movie magic happened 8 years back. Archana Kalpathi's latest update hints that Production No. 26 is related to a previous film made by the AGS Entertainment banner, which is the Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara, and Arvind Swami-starrer Thani Oruvan (2015) directed by hit filmmaker Mohan Raja and featured music by Hiphop Tamizha. The film released eight years back went on to become a huge blockbuster, while also earning massive appreciation among the critics. The upcoming film is speculated to be the sequel to Thani Oruvan, and there have been reports for a while now doing the rounds that the project is indeed a go. All sights will be set on AGS Entertainment's announcement tomorrow on whether it is Thani Oruvan 2 and also who will be returning to the star cast.
Apart from their Production No. 26, AGS Entertainment had made the announcement of their landmark project, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 68 with 'Thalapathy' Vijay in the lead role back in May. The film will be directed by blockbuster director Venkat Prabhu, while the music is set to be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with plans to bring it out in cinemas worldwide in 2024. Thalapathy 68 is AGS Entertainment's second time collaborating with Vijay after their Bigil (2019), which went on to become a raging money-spinner at the box office, and both the actor and the illustrious production house will be looking to hit the bullseye once again.
