One film that is carrying sky-high expectations is the upcoming K. G. F: Chapter 2 starring Yash, who will reprise his role as Raja Krishnappa Bhairya aka. Rocky, and has been directed by Prashanth Neel under Vijay Kiragandur's Hombale Films banner. With the sequel announced for a grand theatrical release on April 14, 2022, the makers on Tuesday released a special video celebrating the occasion of three years since the first film, K. G. F: Chapter 1, was released. The first installment, KGF: Chapter 1, came out in theatres on December 21, 2018 and took the entire nation by storm, with the buzz and hype for the second film since then shooting up.
In the special KGF: Chapter 1 video, we see never before seen footage from the shooting of the film, including a commentary from the team and many big names in the film industry from across the country. One of the big reasons for the Kannada period action drama's massive success has been attributed to it being a pan-Indian film and was dubbed in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam. We are also given a glimpse into exclusive new footage of KGF: Chapter 2 that includes the making of the iconic moment when Yash as Rocky bhai destroys a line of police jeeps with his machine gun and also a shot of Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt as Adheera holding his sword.
The worldwide satellite rights for K.G.F: Chapter 2 have been bagged by Zee, with the Tamil version's distribution rights being acquired by leading production house Dream Warrior Pictures. The sequel, which has already been postponed twice from releasing in theatres due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, will also see actress Srinidhi Shetty reprising her role as the female lead alongside Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag, Archana Jois, Vasishta N Simha, Avinash BS, Achyuth Kumar, Balakrishna returning to their original roles, while Prakash Raj, Raveena Tandon, and Saran Shakthi are the new big additions.
