The Kannada production house Hombale Films are riding the wave as they are now one of the biggest film banners in the country after the stupendous success of their K. G. F: Chapter 1 in 2018. The period action drama starring Yash became the highest-grossing Kannada film of all-time, while also receiving a massive response from fans after the dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam began streaming on Amazon Prime, with all sights currently set on the release of the film's sequel titled K. G. F: Chapter 2. Post the success of KGF, producer Vijay Kiragandur's Hombale Films announced a couple of big upcoming projects among which also included a collaboration with Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar under U-turn and Lucia filmmaker Pawan Kumar's direction.
Announced under the tentative title Hombale Films 9 in April this year, the makers took to social media on Wednesday to inform fans that the title of the Puneeth Rajkumar and Pawan Kumar venture will be revealed on Thursday at 11:46 a.m. Earlier, Pawan had shared a note about the process of landing the big opportunity to work with the superstar and the leading banner. Pawan, who also awaits the release of his Telugu web series Kudi Yedamaithe starring Amala Paul, said that he had shared a script with Puneeth back in 2019 for which the actor gave a double thumbs up. Shortly after, Hombale Films' creative producer Karthik Gowda expressed his interest for the project to be made under their banner and the rest is history. With the restrictions getting eased as a lesser number of COVID-19 cases are being reported, it is expected that production on the film will begin soon.
Hombale Films are currently one of the biggest banners as their K. G. F: Chapter 2 with Yash and a huge multi-star cast is awaiting its theatrical release. Likewise, the banner had also sometime back announced the pan-Indian film, Salaar, with KGF director Prashanth Neel and Baahubali's Prabhas teaming up for the first time.
