Blockbuster films director Lokesh Kanagaraj will be teaming up with Tamil superstar Vijay for Thalapathy 67 once again after their 2021 box office money-spinner Master. The upcoming film has been generating a lot of buzz even before the official announcement for several months after it was revealed that the duo would be coming back together once again. In that light, Lokesh, who had participated in an event organized for assistant directors on Thursday, September 15, in Chennai, was queried about Thalapathy 67 and when the project would begin production. 

Speaking to media persons, Lokesh revealed that fans can expect the much-awaited Thalapathy 67 update in one or two months while adding that he cannot reveal anything until the production house makes an official announcement. This is the first official confirmation of sorts from Lokesh about Thalapathy 67 and this latest news about Vijay's next after his ongoing Varisu will no doubt come as a reason for celebration for many, who have been waiting to hear regarding the project. Although there has been no official announcement as yet, there is considerable buzz that blockbuster producer Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios will be bankrolling Thalapathy 67. 

Expectations for Thalapathy 67 have been massive for more than a year, especially after the recent spectacular box office success of Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Suriya, and the talk surrounding Lokesh Kanagaraj's reunion with Vijay since then shooting up. Fans will be counting down the days now to see when the official announcement for Vijay's Thalapathy 67 will be out and we can expect the excitement to get bigger as the days pass. As of now, Vijay is working on Varisu opposite Rashmika Mandanna under Vamshi Paidipally's direction, which will be coming out in theatres as a grand Pongal 2023 release, while Lokesh is busy with the script work for Thalapathy 67.
