Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu opened in theatres worldwide today, Thursday, September 15, and the reviews coming out for the film are fantastic. The gangster film has a story penned by acclaimed Tamil writer Jeyamohan, who has also contributed to the screenplay along with director Gautham Vasudev Menon. In that light, Jeyamohan recently spoke to Galatta in an exclusive interview and opened up in detail about Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and its sequel, which has been teased towards the end of the first film.

Talking about Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2, Jeyamohan stated, "The film will be almost on the lines of Vikram. It will include 'devil violence'. The first film will end on a note that leads into the sequel. The Muthu you see there will be a person who will not have a humanity that you will usually consider. There are many factors in the first film like his conscience that will keep troubling him. There's a moment in the film where he will ask, 'For whom are we doing all this? There's blood on my hands.' He will transform into a whole different person and will shed away all that feeling in the second film." Addressing the dialogue spoken by Simbu towards the end of the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu trailer about a god or a devil, Jeyamohan says, "He will become the devil next."

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, which primarily focuses on STR's journey as the youngster Muthu hailing from a remote village in Tamil Nadu to the big city lights of the hectic Mumbai, has taken a sensational opening, with praises coming in for the actor's electrifying performance, Gautham Menon's neatly-packaged direction, Jeyamohan's insightful story and screenplay, and Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman's thunderous music and background score. With the first installment now getting a resounding response from fans and critics everywhere, all sights will now be shifting towards Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2 next and the wait now begins for the big announcement.
