Maaveeran is a recent film starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role and directed by Madonne Ashwin of Mandela fame. The film has become a blockbuster hit, collecting over Rs. 75 crore at the box office. The film also features a special voice-over by the popular actor known as 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi. After the release of the film, director Madonne Ashwin sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta Media and shared some exciting details about the film. Speaking about the companionship between the characters played Sivakarthikeyan and the voice that he hears. The director said "the first option was Vijay Sethupathi, sir," for the voice over.

The director, Madonne Ashwin, explained that when he went to speak to Vijay Sethupathi, he agreed immediately, and they thought that they could add the voice in post-production. He said when he went to meet him after that, the actor asked if it's over and When they would do it? The director had replied that the editing process is happening. He revealed that Vijay Sethupathi asked him not to get fixed and that he should do the role just because he had asked him. He said the actor said to him "If you find a better option, go ahead."
Madonne Ashwin said then they began thinking of adding 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's voice or 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's voice. "When we were talking, SK's brother also did mimicry and showed us how the voice would be. But finally, If I think about it when two people who are contemporary and in the same age group speak, it creates a buddy feeling, and it looks better". He added that "maybe, if Kamal Sir had given the voice, it would have been like advice; this fits in the friend zone and as an interaction. So, this is better".
