Silambarasan TR is fresh off the blockbuster success of his Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and is the third time the actor has hit the bullseye with director Gautham Menon and Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman after their Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016). With VTK turning out to be a colossal box office and critical success, the actor will be seen next in the highly-anticipated Pathu Thala, releasing in theatres worldwide on December 14. In that light, Simbu, who has been filming Pathu Thala over the past few days, surprised fans by sharing a new photo of himself in his look from the upcoming film on Twitter, while also announcing that the ongoing schedule at Tungabhadra Dam, Hospet, Karnataka has come to a finish. Check out his tweet below:

Billed to be an intense action drama, Pathu Thala is said to be a remake of the 2017 Kannada blockbuster, Mufti, which starred superstar Shiva Rajkumar as a don, while Sriimurali played the role of an undercover police officer and was directed by Narthan. Produced under K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green banner and featuring music by A. R. Rahman, the Tamil version of the film is one of the most exciting ventures coming out this year as Simbu will be seen playing the role of an underworld don named AGR, with Gautham Karthik set to be seen as a cop. Being directed by Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame Obeli N. Krishna, Pathu Thala further includes a talented supporting cast featuring the likes of Priya Bhavani Shankar playing the role of a tahsildar, filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon as the antagonist, followed by Kalaiyarasan, Asuran fame Teejay Arunasalam, poet Manushyaputhiran, Doctor star Reddin Kingsley, Malayalam actress Anu Sithara, and popular child artiste and Imaikkaa Nodigal and Maamanithan sensation Manasvi Kottachi in crucial roles.

Apart from STR dropping the news of the wrap of Pathu Thala's schedule, Reddin Kingsley too shared a couple of new pictures of himself with the flamboyant star and Gautham Karthik at the film's shooting spot announcing the same. Expectations for Pathu Thala are massive and Silambarasan will be looking to hit a hat-trick with the film after his Maanaadu and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu turned out to be consecutive box office money-spinners.
