Raghava Lawrence's next big Tamil film titled Rudhran was launched last month at Chennai after a formal pooja, with leading actress Priya Bhavani Shankar announced to be playing the female lead. Pictures from the Rudhran movie launch went viral on social media, with reputed producer S Kathiresan of 5 Star Creations LLP announcing that he would be making his directorial debut with the upcoming film. In that light, Five Star Kathiresan, known for producing films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam and Jigarthanda, on Friday took to Twitter to drop yet another massive announcement and revealed that popular action hero and politician Sarath Kumar will be joining the cast of Rudhran

Sarath Kumar will be starring in a Raghava Lawrence film for the second time after the two last shared screen space in the 2011 box office blockbuster, Kanchana also known as Muni 2: Kanchana. The film will see Sarath Kumar making his first on-screen appearance after his acclaimed performance in last year's Vaanam Kottatum, which fetched him praises from fans and critics alike. A veteran in the Tamil film industry and a leading hero during the 80s, 90s and well into the 2000s, it will be mighty interesting to see Sarath Kumar in action once again and alongside Raghava Lawrence, who has been churning one box office hit after another. Rudhran will include a story and screenplay written by KP Thiru Maaran, with composer G. V. Prakash Kumar roped in for the film's music, who will be looking to top it off yet again after his thunderous songs and score in Asuran and Soorarai Pottru. Rudhran also includes ace cinematographer RD Rajasekhar, with veteran actors Nassar and Poornima Bhagyaraj cast in supporting roles.

Expectations for Rudhran shot up, especially after it was announced that Raghava Lawrence and the happening heroine Priya Bhavani Shankar have been cast for the first time together. For Lawrence, the new film will be his next after Kanchana 3 in 2019, which turned out to be a sensational box office success. It was also revealed a while back that there are plans for Lawrence to do the sequel of the blockbuster film, Chandramukhi, with director P Vasu, under the production of Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures.
