The entire Tamil Nadu knows the ongoing political turmoil in the state, with the Assembly elections looming in the near future! All the parties have been aggressively working towards their election campaigns and are doling out promises and assurances. However, every single politician in the state is keeping an eye on VK Sasikala, a very close aide of the late former TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa! She had been serving a 4-year prison term at the Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru after being found guilty in a Rs. 66 Crore Disproportionate Assets case, in 2017! She had also recently tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing treatment for the same, at the Victoria Hospital, in Bengaluru! However, despite being in hospital, Sasikala has now been formally released from Prison, having served out her sentence!

Officials from the Parappana Agrahara Prison, met Sasikala at the Hospital today and completed all her release formalities and returned all her belongings which they had collected from her while she entered the Prison. Now, Sasikala is a free person but we hear that she will continue to remain at the hospital for another 4-5 days! Hospital authorities state that this decision was taken by Sasikala herself and her relatives. After her release, Sasikala's nephew TTV Dinakaran met her at the hospital and later addressed the media. We hear that Sasikala is now stable but still receiving oxygen to help her breathe. Sasikala had originally been admitted at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital on January 20th, after complaining of breathlessness and fever. However, after tests proved that she was COVID-19 positive, she was shifted to the ICU ward of the Victoria Hospital.

Despite being released from Prison, over a 100 Police officers have been deployed at the Victoria Hospital for Sasikala's safety to keep out her followers and visitors from crowding her. A number of Sasikala's followers have already camped outside the hospital and are waiting to give her a warm welcome from Bengaluru to Chennai. TTV Dinakaran also mentioned that once Sasikala returns to Chennai, they would together, bring back "Amma's Aatchi" (Jayalalithaa's rule) to the state! Sasikala is said to have thorough knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of all the leaders in AIADMK from which she has been expelled. There are speculations that Sasikala would reach out to those leaders who have supported her in the past, upon returning to Chennai. Some political experts believe that she would not contest the elections herself but would throw her support behind Dinakaran and his AMMK party and might even seek an alliance with the BJP's NDA, for the upcoming TN Assembly elections. However, as of now, Sasikala is still at the Victoria Hospital and is expected to return to Chennai, only if she is found asymptomatic after 10 days since her admission and if she has completed 3 days without external oxygen assistance! Stay tuned for updates...
