National Award-winning Tamil composer turned actor G. V. Prakash Kumar will be seen next on the big screen in the much-awaited political action drama film Rebel directed by debutant Nikesh RS. The upcoming film produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green banner on a grand budget had its teaser launched by National Award-winning actor Suriya on Saturday, November 11, giving audiences a glimpse into the action that awaits them in cinemas soon. With filming wrapped up and post-production works currently underway on Rebel, the film's teaser showcases GV Prakash as a youngster who fought and died for Tamil amidst the backdrop of Kerala. 

The Rebel teaser revolves predominantly around the oppression of the downtrodden and the poor by the richer classes. Revealed to be based on true events, the period film's teaser shows that the story is set somewhere in Kerala, while also shedding the spotlight on campus politics and the battle against slavery and exploitation. GV Prakash has plenty of scope for a power-packed performance in Rebel as the teaser shows him in high-octane action sequences, with romance, comedy, sentiment and other encompassing commercial elements also included to draw audiences to cinemas.

Rebel will see GV Prakash sharing screen space with the up-and-coming Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju, while Venkitesh V.P., Shalu Rahim, Karunas, Adhithya Baskar, Kalloori Vinoth, and Subramaniam Siva, among others, are cast in major supporting roles. The film has a talented technical team onboard featuring the likes of cinematographer Arun Radhakrishnan, editor Vetre Krishnan, art director Pappanadu C. Uthayakumar, and fight director Sakthi Saravanan, while the costumes have been designed by Kalai UM and Vinod Sundar, with P. Mariappan in charge of the makeup. Apart from headlining Rebel, GV Prakash is also composing the songs and the background score for the film, which will have lyrics penned by Arunraja Kamaraj and choreography by Sabarish
