The wait is over for 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's fans everywhere as the teaser for the highly-anticipated Lal Salaam is now out as a special Diwali treat. Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and featuring music composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the upcoming cricket-based film starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages as a grand Pongal release in January 2024. With post-production works currently underway, the much-awaited Lal Salaam teaser released now gives audiences a glimpse at Rajinikanth as Moideen bhai, while also diving into the topic of religion and politics in sports.
The Lal Salaam teaser starts off showing scenes of a riot and introducing Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth on opposite sides, who are also revealed to be cricket rivals. There are also visuals showing the duo battling it out on the cricket field, with the commentator on the ground informing that the atmosphere is electric akin to an India-Pakistan match. There are intense moments in this glimpse as we see the police storming in, while on the other end, the players are shown to be running away from the spectators who have gathered to watch. The are several dramatic moments in the Lal Salaam teaser before 'Superstar' Rajinikanth makes a fiery entry as Moideen bhai, who takes on bad guys with ease and flair as always.
The Lal Salaam teaser touches upon the topic of religion in sports and it will be interesting to see how Aishwarya Rajinikanth will be presenting the story after her previous directorials 3 (2012), Vai Raja Vai (2015), and the documentary Cinema Veeran (2017). Although Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth are playing the lead roles, Rajinikanth has a major part in the proceedings, with the supporting cast featuring the likes of Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, K. S. Ravikumar, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai, among others. There will be a lot of expectations for Lal Salaam as it also marks Rajinikanth's next big screen appearance after the blockbuster success of his Jailer this year.
