Ponniyin Selvan: 2 was released in theatres worldwide on April 28. The film called a the Magnum Opus of Mani Ratnam was released in five languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film had huge expectations and had been getting positive reviews from movie buffs, fans and audiences. It’s based on the book series written by Kalki about the Chola Empire. It was a sequel to Ponniyin Selvan: 1 movie that was released in October 2022 and grossed over Rs.400 crores in box officer collections.
The mammoth film was bank-rolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies and has been running successfully in theatres. The makers of have now released an official statement about the box office collections. They have released a short video showing that Ponniyin Selvan 2 has grossed over Rs. 200+ crores worldwide. As the film has managed to cross the Rs. 200 crore mark within four days, this shows that the film will cross more milestones in the following weeks of running. Lyca Production and Madras Talkies released the statement with the caption “Breaking barriers and conquering the globe! PS2 spars high and crosses over 200 crores worldwide." The film has become one of the five top-grossing films of 2023.
