Popular Malayalam film artiste and lyricist Padmaja Radhakrishnan passed away yesterday, June 15th at a private hospital in Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala. She was 68 years old. According to reports, she breathed her last following a cardiac arrest. Padmaja complained of breathlessness before being rushed to SK Hospital in her hometown in Kerala. Around 1 am, yesterday, the lyricist-artiste died due to cardiac arrest. Singer Chithra has shared an emotional message on her social media page for Padmaja - “I am shocked to know about the sudden demise of Padmaja chechi. I can not express the sadness we feel at this time. She was a true artist, poet, dancer and bulbul & harmonica player and an enthusiastic person who took leadership in different activities. She send me a song which she played in harmonica 5days back. I still can not believe that she is no more. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all the family members. May her soul rest in peace.” 
 
It must be noted that Padmaja Radhakrishnan was also the wife of popular Malayalam composer, late MG Radhakrishnan. Padmaja had penned lyrics for popular Malayalam film, Mr Bean, which released in 2013. The film featured Pritam Kagne and Bijukuttan in the lead roles. She used to assist her husband in his work and had also written lyrics for some of his compositions. She was also a skillful artist who had conducted art exhibitions in Kerala. Padmaja is survived by son Rajakrishnan and daughter Karthika. Her son lives in Chennai and daughter in Dubai.
