Leading Tamil actor Dhanush has had a stellar 2022 and he will be looking to wrap it up on a high note with Vaathi, which has been confirmed for a worldwide theatrical release on December 2. For a while now, there have been rumors doing the rounds that the upcoming bilingual also coming out in Telugu under the title Sir would be pushed to a release in early 2023. That being said, veteran Tamil film PRO Riaz K. Ahmed took to social media on Saturday evening to dispel the false speculations surrounding the Dhanush-starrer and once again confirmed that Vaathi will indeed open in cinemas as stated earlier in the first week of December while adding that there are no changes to the aforementioned plans. This latest clarification will no doubt be big joyous news for Dhanush fans everywhere who have been waiting for an official word on the release of Vaathi ever since the rumors took flight. The film is one of the most-awaited among the actor's fans, especially after a rocking teaser released sometime back received a strong response, with the Telugu version also seeing the actor dubbing for his own lines. Directed by Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri of Tholi Prema and Rang De fame, Vaathi / Sir has been produced by Naga Vamsi under the Sithara Entertainments banner in association with Sai Soujanya's Fortune Four Cinemas, and has Dhanush paired opposite youth sensation Samyuktha Menon, who will be looking to ace her role after making heads turn in Malayalam cinema over the years. 

G. V. Prakash Kumar is the music director of Vaathi / Sir and the National Award-winning music director will come out all guns blazing once again for his collaboration with Dhanush after their previous associations in films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Mayakkam Enna, Asuran, and Maaran. The hit composer also announced on Saturday that the first single from Vaathi will be released soon and features lyrics by Dhanush himself. Vaathi will be Dhanush's final film of 2022 after he was seen in Maaran, The Gray Man, Thiruchitrambalam, and Naane Varuvean and he will want to end the year in a big way.
