'Chiyaan' Vikram's Thangalaan has wrapped up shooting, the National Award-winning Tamil actor announced on social media on Tuesday evening, July 4. Posting an earlier photo of himself along with the upcoming film's director Pa. Ranjith and his co-star Parvathy Thiruvothu and another picture after the completion of the shooting in which he is seen in his look for his role alongside Malavika Mohanan, the actor wrote on Twitter, "And it’s a wrap!! What a journey!! Worked with some of the most amazing people & had some of the most evocative experiences as an actor. #thangalaan Was it just 118 working days between the first pic & the last. (sic)".

Being produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green in association with filmmaker Pa. Ranjith's Neelam Productions banner, a video of the cast and crew of Thangalaan has also been released on social media showing them sharing the happy news in a fun manner. The video also gives fans a look at Vikram sporting a clean-shaven look, while rocking it with a thick moustache and a pair of sunglasses. Malavika Mohanan, who is best known to Tamil cinema audiences for playing the female lead in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's blockbuster Master (2021), also shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram about her filming experience on the sets of Thangalaan. She wrote, "I don’t even know where to begin.. A film that came my way in the most unexpected way at an unexpected time, a film that tested my physical, mental and emotional endurance in a way nothing ever has, a film where I got to collaborate with some of the most talented artists, not to mention some of my favourites. You have artistically spoilt me @ranjithpa @the_real_chiyaan & the rest of the team, and set the bar too high. Who will match this now 😭😅 It’s finally a film wrap and I’m going to wallow in existential crisis for a few days. Thangalaan is one of the biggest and most-awaited films in recent times and has been carrying massive buzz right from the moment it went on floors in the second half of 2022. The film set around the pre-Independence period and in the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) had an announcement teaser released last year and a special glimpse unveiled on Vikram's birthday back in April raising the excitement levels for the film, which is expected to open in cinemas either later this year or in early 2024. Apart from Vikram, Parvathy, and Malavika, the star cast of Thangalaan includes Pasupathy reuniting under Pa. Ranjith's direction after his knockout performance in Sarpatta Parambarai (2021), English actor Daniel Caltagirone, who has been cast as the antagonist, followed by Madras fame Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Muthukumar, Preethy Karan, Arjun Prabhakaran among others in pivotal roles, with music being composed by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar.
