Actor K Ramaraj was known for his role as a police officer from Avan Ivan, directed by Bala, was ill for the past one month and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Madurai. He passed away last night (July 11) at the age of 72. The actor's mortal remains have been brought back to his residence in his native town Mudukulathur, Ramanathapuram district. It is also reported that the last rites of K Ramaraj will be held today (July 12) afternoon after friends and family pay their respects. 

Actor K Ramaraj initially worked as a manager in a cooperative bank in Mudukulathur, and later his debut in films he retired from the aforementioned job. He shared the screen space with Vishal and Arya in the 2011 Tamil film, and his scenes with both the actors are quite memorable. Post the success of Avan Ivan, K Ramaraj acted in several other Tamil films and delivered remarkable performances.

He is survived by his wife and three sons. She has a keen interest in acting as well and has also acted in stage plays while studying in schools and colleges. Subsequently, he went on to act as a comedian and character actor in more than 25 films, including Thaarai Thappattai, another Bala directorial starring Sasikumar in the lead role.

Filmmaker Bala, actors Vishal, Sasikumar, and many others from the film industry have paid their respects and condoled his death.
