'Thalapathy' Vijay fans have been on cloud 9 after the release of the actor's upcoming film Master teaser, which came out as a Diwali treat and has been smashing records left and right. The Master teaser is currently the most-liked teaser in India, while also recently becoming the most-liked Indian South India teaser/trailer on YouTube surpassing the earlier record held by Vijay's Bigil trailer. The teaser is incidentally now officially the most-liked Vijay video ever and has also propelled the Sun TV YouTube channel into crossing 10 million (1 crore) subscribers. Having said that, Master directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj under Xavier Britto's XB Film Creators banner and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander has now added yet another feather to its cap. 

It has now been revealed that Master, which has eight songs, has now become the third 'Thalapathy' Vijay movie album to cross 50 million playouts on the popular music streaming platform, Gaana. This latest accomplishment for the Master album is the third occasion for a Vijay film after his Mersal, which has 62 million and last year's Bigil with 58 million playouts respectively. Anirudh's songs in the mass action entertainer have turned out to be chartbusters and is the second time he has delivered a rock solid album after the 2014 box office blockbuster, Kaththi

Released in March earlier this year, the Master album was the first big promotion for the film, which was initially slated to hit screens on April 9 as a grand summer holiday treat. However, those plans suffered a massive setback after the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. As of now, there is a strong talk that the film will hit the screens in early 2021, most likely as a Pongal release in January. Both producer Xavier Britto and director Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed sometime back that Master will only come out in theatres, while adding that it is the only way the film ought to be watched.

Master also includes 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist, with visuals of his showdown with Vijay receiving a thunderous response. There has been immense hype surrounding the film considering both stars enjoy massive fan following. Master will see Malavika Mohanan as the female lead, followed by Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Gouri Kishan, Master Mahendran, KPY Dheena, Ramya Subramanian, Azhagam Perumal among others forming the supporting cast.
