Veteran actress Shabana Azmi had recently taken to social media to inform that she was cheated by online fraudsters pretending to be from an alcohol delivery company. The 70-year-old five-time National Award-winning actress claimed that she got conned by a platform called Living Liquidz after she had placed an order, but didn't receive it. She tweeted, "BEWARE I have been cheated by them. #Living Liquidz I paid upfront and when the ordered item didnt turn up they stopped picking up my calls." Shabana's tweet garnered widespread attention on social networking forums as many soon shared their own experiences of placing similar orders online and eventually getting conned. One follower wrote, "Yes ma'am I have been cheated by the same guys and unfortunately the cybercrime and the police didn't do a thing about it after following up with them a couple of times."

Later, Shabana Azmi had revealed that she had spoken to the owners of Living Liquidz and said that they do not have any links to the people who scammed her. She took to Twitter once again to reveal that she had managed to track down the people behind the scam and stated that they had nothing to do with Living Liquidz. She urged the Mumbai Police to take action against all those responsible. She tweeted, "Finally traced the owners of  @living_liquidz & it turns out that the people who cheated me are fraudsters who have nothing to do with Living Liquidz! I urge @mumbaipolice and @cybercrime to take action to stop these crooks from using names of legitimate businesses & scamming us." This isn't the first time a leading name from Bollywood has been a victim of an online scam as celebrities namely Akshaye Khanna, Nargis Fakhri and Karan Singh Grover too have fallen prey to such fraudsters. On the work front, Shabana will be seen next in the Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta-starrer queer love story, Sheer Qorma, and the British romantic comedy, What's Love Got to Do With It?, directed by Shekhar Kapur.
