In an unexpected turn of events, popular Tamil Actor and co-director Pawn Raj (or Paun Raj) died due to a massive heart attack at Dindigul, early this morning (May 15). His demise has shocked the fans and members of the Tamil film fraternity. The fans are expressing their heartfelt condolences to Pawn Raj's family on social media. Galatta Media expresses condolences and prays for the departed soul to rest in peace. The news was shared by director Ponram of Varuthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan fame. Pawn Raj had worked as a co-director to Ponram in his movies like Varuthapadaadha Vaalibar Sangam, Rajini Murugan, and Seemaraja.

Sharing a picture of Paun Raj, director Ponram wrote on his official Twitter page, "#RIPPawnraj வருத்தப்படாத வாலிபர் சங்கம் ரஜினிமுருகன், போன்ற படங்களில் நடித்தவரும் எனது கோ டைரக்டருமான பவுன்ராஜ் ஹார்ட் அட்டாக்கில் இறந்து விட்டார் அவருக்கு ஆழ்ந்த இரக்கங்கள்". Ponram's tweet is loosely translated in English as, "Pawn Raj, my co-director and the one who acted in my movies like Varuthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam, Rajini Murugan, died due to a heart attack. My heartfelt condolences".

Pawn Raj will be best remembered by the Tamil audience for his highly impressive performance in the famous banana comedy scene in Rajini Murugan. Despite coming only for one single scene, Pawn Raj scored in style and earned applauses in theatres. His dialogue, 'Idhu Enna Da Madura Kaaran-ukku vandha sodhana' turned out to be a huge hit among the youth audience. It is unfortunate that the man who made us laugh in films is no more.

Director Ponram is currently working on his next project with Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and the film is tentatively called as #VJS46. Touted to be a fun filled action entertainer, the film is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures and has music scored by D Imman. Cook with Comali fame Pugazh plays an important role in the film. Ponram is also awaiting the release of his next directorial venture, MGR Magan which features Sasikumar, Samuthirakani and Mrinalini Ravi in the lead roles. The film is expected to release in theatres when the Covid 19 situation comes under control.
