Earlier this morning (January 23), leading Bollywood star Akshay Kumar made a breaking announcement, revealing the release plans of his next movie. Taking to his Twitter page, Akshay Kumar announced that his next film, Bachchan Pandey will be hitting the screens on January 26, 2022, for the Republic Day weekend. We are a year away from witnessing the film's release, but still, this announcement has made the fans excited and it has created a good buzz on social media. Akshay Kumar released a new picture from the film while making the release date announcement and the picture has now gone viral. Akshay Kumar's rugged makeover looks intriguing and it looks like he has gotten to play a very raw character.

We have been used to seeing Akshay Kumar in stylish and modern characters and it is going to be interesting to see him in a different avatar. Akshay Kumar's daunting look is definitely garnering the attention of the netizens. Bachchan Pandey is directed by Farhad Samji of Housefull 4 fame and has some exciting names in the star cast. Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez would be seen as the female leads while Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Prateik Babbar, Abhimanyu Singh will play supporting roles. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, this film has cinematography by Gavemic U Ary of Jigarthanda fame.

The film was initially rumoured to be the remake of Thala Ajith's superhit film, Veeram, but the makers later clarified that Bachchan Pandey is an original story. Akshay Kumar was last seen in the horror comedy-drama, Laxmii, which marked the Hindi directorial debut of Raghava Lawrence. Laxmii which released directly on Disney + Hotstar streaming platform received mixed to negative reviews. Akshay Kumar's next release would be Sooryavanshi which has been waiting for a long time for a suitable time to release in the theatres. Sooryavanshi is an action drama directed by Rohit Shetty. Akshay Kumar also plays one of the leads in director Aanand L Rai's next film, Atrangi Re which stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan as the other leads.

There is also Bell Bottom and Prithviraj which are in different stages of production. With several exciting projects in the lineup, Akshay Kumar's fans are in for some solid treat in the coming months.
