John Kokken Anish, latest villain in films

John Kokken Anish is going be a villain to watch out for in the coming days. His first Kannada film Prithvi is doing great and his role is being appreciated by all.

Even as we watch the news about the infamous Reddy Brothers in mainstream media, a film made with reference to what is happening in Bellary is doing well in theatres. Director Jacob Varghese had extra guts to portray a real life story on screen.

Prithvi has been appreciated even by ex-Prime Minister Deve Gowda of Janata Dal. Siddaramaiah of Congress also was seen appreciating this film which is running house full.

Puneeth Rajkumar has done a great role as IAS officer in Prithvi, a role quite different from his earlier roles. Parvathi Menon has also supported him well and the songs are all super hits already.

John Kokken Anish started his career as a model. First seen in Gladrags Magazine in 2005, he was one of the top Indian models in 2005-06. Then he appeared in the Bajaj Pulsar TV commercial ad in 2006, followed by the ad for State Bank of India and Cadbury Bites. His career took a turn when he modeled for Chungath Prints and SRK Builders in 2008. His mentor and guru Sleeba, who is also a Malayalam film director, told him to take to films; he obeyed and thus began his filmi career with the Malayalam Mammootty starrer Love in Singapore (2009). His latest release in Kerala is Alexander The Great with super star Mohanlal. He is now shooting for Shikaar (Malayalam), again a Mohanlal starrer. He is also shooting for Don Seenu (Telugu), a Ravi Teja film.

His first Kannada film Prithvi is drawing good crowds and John's performance is a treat to watch. Amazingly, he has done the dialogue delivery so well that his lip movements match every dialogue. This is appreciable, considering that he does not know Kannada. He says he did a lot of homework and use to learn the dialogues by heart a day before the shot. His screen presence, mannerisms and attitude fit the bill of a villain perfectly.

His role models are Prem Chopra, Gulshan Grover, Amrish Puri and Pran from Hindi films. He says he would also like to do films like Nayagan (Kamal Haasan). His dream role is that of Mohanlal in Uyarangalil.

John came Bangalore to watch Prithvi with his girl friend, actress Meera Vasudevan.  What makes him happier is that Meera is making a big comeback due to his great support. All set to enact new roles in southern films, she is currently assisting director Sleeba in his latest film.

One of John’s dreams is to meet the infamous Reddy Brothers, one of whom he portrayed in the film.  He says that when he was shooting for the film, he never knew he would be doing such a character. Later, when people told him he was enacting the role of a living character, he understood.
