Earlier today, the Indian Cricket team showed off great grit to draw the third Test against Australia and to add to this happiness, the Indian Cricket Team's captain Virat Kohli had some more great news to share. Kohli and his wife Anushka had been expecting the arrival of their first child and it has happened today. Kohli posted a message on social media, sharing that their first child had indeed arrived and that it is a girl. He also added that both baby and mother are fine and also requested the media to respect their privacy at this time.
Earlier, Kohli had returned from the ongoing Australian tour, after finishing playing in the first Test match. Kohli had announced this before the tour started itself and had availed paternity leave and that he would be returning to India and that he would not be able to play in all the 4 Tests. Though India had lost badly in the first Test, they came back strongly to win the 2nd Test and then draw the 3rd Test, despite losing a number of players to injury. Kohli and actress Anushka had been dating for some time and the two flew off to Italy for a rather private wedding. The two were hitched on December 11, in 2017!
In August 2020, Kohli and Anushka announced that they were pregnant, through a post on social media, alongside a photo of Anushka flaunting her baby bump! At that time itself, they had announced that the baby was being expected in January, 2021! Over the past couple of days, Kohli and Anushka had been spotted frequently visiting a clinic. Despite both of them being celebrities, Anushka had earlier announced that they wanted to raise their child away from the public glare. While talking to the media, Anushka had also mentioned that post delivery, she will continue to act for as long as she lives and that they would work out a system to help achieve a work-life balance and also take care of the child! We wish Anushka, Kohli and the newborn little one all the very best in life!
