It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 684 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 826,943! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,000 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 300 in these recent days! 201 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 227,975! Kancheepuram has recorded 18 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,970 and 218 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 50,609 total cases of which 418 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 43,060 cases with 333 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 71 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu has recorded 44 cases and Salem has recorded 34 new cases!
There have been 06 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,228. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 227,975 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 6,971 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 2,107! There have been 869 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 807,744. There have been 60,314 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 14,885,013 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 60,024 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 14,578,202! There are reports that the overall COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
