One among the numerous 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi films that has quite a lot of expectations riding on it is the upcoming social drama Ka Pae Ranasingam. The film will see Aishwarya Rajesh playing the lead, while Vijay Sethupathi will be making an appearance in an extended guest role. Announced for its premiere on October 2 on the newly-launched Zee Plex OTT streaming network on a pay-per-view basis, the film has is the directorial debut of P. Virumandi and has been produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh under his KJR Studios banner. The film will also see G. V. Prakash Kumar's sister Bhavani Sre making her acting debut as Vijay Sethupathi's sister, with Rangaraj Pandey cast in a vital supporting role as a District Collector.

With Ka Pae Ranasingam's OTT release around the corner, the film's lead star Aishwarya Rajesh in an exclusive interview with Galatta  went on to reveal the process of how Vijay Sethupathi's character was broadened, including how the actor was convinced to come on board. Aishwarya Rajesh states, "It is a women-centric film and Vijay Sethupathi is a big support in that. Although we started out as a small film, his contribution has made it bigger after he came on board. The crux of the story is important and that is Vijay Sethupathi in this film. It's the reason why we have titled it as Ka Pae Ranasingam."

She further continues, "This is my fourth collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi after Rummy, Pannaiyaarum Padmini and Dharma Durai. During the story discussion, I told the film's director P. Virumandi that Vijay Sethupathi would be apt for the role, but he was doubtful whether he would agree for an extended cameo. I told him he would agree to do the role if he likes the story. Then, producer Kotapadi J. Rajesh too wanted to make the final product as perfect as possible and told the director to convince and bring him on board. I then spoke to Vijay Sethupathi, but he had date issues and said he would not be able to take up even cameo roles. But, he heard the story from director P. Virumandi and was very impressed. First, he agreed to act for five days and then his portions got extended to 10 days. Eventually, his character's presence in the film also grew as he shot for close to 20 days. In fact, after Vijay Sethupathi came, the story became bigger and his characterization was completely changed. He too came up with his own inputs and without a doubt, he is a big gift to us in this film. What started out as a cameo, he will be appearing for close to 45 minutes to one hour in the film."
