It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,659 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 597,602! Of these, 1,295 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 167,736! Kancheepuram has recorded 207 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 21,969, while 887 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 35,590 total cases of which 2,170 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 32,387 cases with 1,647 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 574 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 378 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 335 new cases!
There have been 67 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,520. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 167,736 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,263 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,320! There have been 5,610 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 541,819. There have been 86,928 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,354,050 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
