'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan praised director Shankar for his work in their upcoming film, Indian 2, and gifted him a luxury watch as a token of appreciation on Wednesday, June 28. Taking to Twitter, the iconic actor gifted the ace filmmaker with a Panerai watch, while also revealing that he watched a few main scenes from the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, Indian, earlier today. The Vikram actor also advised Shankar to not stop pursuing his passion saying his work in Indian 2 is not the peak of his career adding that he has to keep going in search of new heights. Kamal Haasan tweeted, "I watched the main scenes of 'Indian 2' today. My best wishes to Shankar. My advice is that this should not be your peak. Because this is the highest stage of your artistic life. Don't take this to the top and be proud. In search of many new heights. (sic)"

Indian 2 is headed toward the finish line and production is expected to come to an end this month. Although no release date has yet been announced, it is being reported that the team is planning to bring the film into theatres in early 2024 as a grand Pongal release, with an official word now being awaited. Jointly being produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies banners, the buzz for Indian 2 has been massive right from the get-go as fans are eagerly waiting to witness Kamal Haasan in action on the big screen once again as Senapathy, with the promotional material released so far receiving a phenomenal response.
Shankar has been shuffling his time non-stop for more than a year now between the sets of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 and his Telugu directorial debut Game Changer starring Ram Charan and fans have been extending their support to the filmmaker for his dedication and hard work. One of the biggest ventures to ever be made in Tamil cinema history, the film includes a huge ensemble star cast featuring the likes of Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, late actors Vivek and Manobala, with Delhi Ganesh, Gulshan Grover, and former cricketer Yograj Singh (Yuvraj Singh's father) among others in crucial roles. Indian 2 will also have music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander and expectations are huge for the composer to come out with yet another chart-topping album and a thunderous background score eclipsing his own work in last year's Vikram.
