Vijay Antony is on cloud nine after his Pichaikkaran 2 released in May turned out to become a spectacular success at the box office and has now announced the release date of his next big film, Kolai. On Wednesday, the composer-turned-actor shared a poster for the crime thriller along with the announcement that the film directed by Vidiyum Munn fame Balaji Kumar will be coming out in theatres worldwide on July 21. Kolai is also releasing in Telugu under the title Hatya and Vijay Antony will be looking to come out firing on all cylinders after the staggering response to Pichaikkaran 2.

Kolai has Vijay Antony sporting a completely new look and he will be appearing as an aged detective hired to investigate the murder of a popular singer. While Irudhi Suttru and Oh My Kadavule heroine Ritika Singh plays the role of a cop, young sensation Meenakshii Chaudhary is cast as the singer, with Radikaa Sarathkumar, Murli Sharma, Siddhartha Shankar, Kishore Kumar, John Vijay, Arjun Chidambaram, and Samkit Bohra appearing in pivotal roles. The trailer for Kolai released last year gave audiences a grand glimpse at Vijay Antony and the film, which has been produced by Infiniti Film Ventures in association with the Lotus Pictures banner.
Among the major highlights of Kolai is the super stylish manner in which it has been picturized by NGK and Kolamaavu Kokila fame cinematographer Sivakumar Vijayan, with the visuals in the film's trailer leaving everyone impressed. Featuring music by Girishh Gopalakrishnan of Mookuthi Amman and Netrikann fame, the upcoming film has editing done by Selva RK, who is known for his work in Karnan and Sarpatta Parambarai. Vijay Antony will hope to carry forward the momentum from the success of Pichaikkaran 2 and aim at hitting the bullseye once again with Kolai, if not reach bigger results this time around.
