United by films

Tamil Nadu and Karnataka might differ in opinions when it comes to sharing Cauvery waters, but the film industries of bothstates work hand-in-glove. Both keep exchanging artists or films, a move welcomed by fans on both sides. We witnessed Kannada superstar Upendra play a prominent role in Vishal starrer Sathyam and now, we have Prabhu doing a prominent role in a Kannada. A while ago, there were strong rumours asserting that Kannada superstar Vishnuvardhan was requested by Shankar and Rajni to do a guest role in Endhiran (also spelt as Enthiran)!

Above all, one of the hottest heroines of Kollywood – Divya Spandana – is from Kannada film industry! And her case is interesting! When two of her Kannada films flopped, the actress lost the race to the “numero uno” position. But a film in Tamil – Vaaranam Aayiram – provided her a new lease of life in Kannada film industry! Quite the opposite happened in the case of Pooja Gandhi, Divya’s competitor. After a soft debut in Kokki opposite Karan and not finding any interesting Tamil films to do, she headed to Sandalwood. Thus began her success story in Kannada film industry which compelled Kollywood filmmakers to recall her; she sizzled in Arjun’s Thiruvannamalai recently.

The latest news is that Selvaraghavan’s 7G Rainbow Colony (Ravi Krishna and Sonia Agarwal) is being remade in Kannada. Also, there is a buzz that director Mysskin’s Chithiram Pesuthadi will soon be remade in Kannada with Divya Spandanain an important role!

Truly, cinema is something that transcends allboundaries!
