Tamil cinema kicked off 2023 on a grand note with 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu, which went on to become a massive box office blockbuster. Directed by leading Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally and produced under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the mass entertainer family drama also featured chart-topping songs composed by Thaman. S, with many tracks still reigning at the top of the charts. Ever since Varisu came out as a Pongal treat, there have been requests from fans for the film's original soundtrack (OST), with Thaman recently informing them that it will be released on August 15.

With fans looking forward to the release of the Varisu OST, Thaman on Saturday, August 12, dropped a surprise glimpse of the background score video from his recording studio, while expressing his excitement for what's up in store ahead. The hit music director took to X and wrote, "Heart is ♥️ Can’t wait #VarisuOst 🏆⭐️💪🏾🔥🦁⚡️" and posted the video, which featured a scene from the film showing Vijay returning home, with Sarathkumar and Jayasudha as his parents watching on.

Earlier this month, Thaman guaranteed fans that the Varisu OST will include more than 25 musical tracks and had to be pushed due to his other film commitments. He said, "Guys #VarisuOst is 100 % coming it has more than 25 Solid tracks .. I am working on it . Delay is due to ongoing commitments. I have to put my heart ❤️ and send it with love to u all !! I knw I have delayed it but this time I Will Not miss it ❗️ #Aug15th i will surely Release it in a Grand Way 🫶💯 (sic)". Varisu, which saw Vijay paired with Rashmika Mandanna, while also sharing screen space with an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Srikanth, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Ganesh Venkatraman, VTV Ganesan, to name a notable few, turned out to be a phenomenal success at the box office raking in more than 300 crores at the worldwide box office.
