Nov 01 - TN COVID Update: 2,504 New Cases | 30 New Deaths | Total - 727,026 Cases & 11,152 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,504 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 727,026! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 3,000 cases for nearly 10 days now. Good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 686 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 200,533! Kancheepuram has recorded 65 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 25,629, while 422 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 43,840 total cases of which 1,042 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 38,020 cases with 981 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 248 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 145 new cases and Thiruvallur recorded 136 new cases! 

There have been 30 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,152. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 200,533 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 20,994 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 7,005! There have been 3,644 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 694,880. There have been 73,356 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 10,029,222 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 71,797 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 9,760,029! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
