Last week finally saw the official launch of the much-hyped Thala 59 starring Ajith under Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru fame H. Vinoth’s direction. Being produced by the Late actress Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor under the Bayview Projects LLP banner, the upcoming courtroom drama is an official remake of the smash hit 2016 Bollywood film, Pink, which had Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles.
With Thala 59’s release date planned already for Ajith’s birthday on May 1, 2019, filming kicked off last week with portions that do not feature the superstar. The film also has composer Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music, Nirav Shah for the cinematography and Kathir for the art direction with popular director Adhik Ravichandran also on board in a starring role.
Meanwhile, it was also announced last week that popular television anchor and journalist Rangaraj Pandey would be seen in a crucial role in AK 59. That said, there are reports now stating he will be reprising Bollywood actor Piyush Mishra’s role, who battled in the courtroom against Amitabh Bachchan in Pink. If indeed true, it will be mighty interesting to witness him and Ajith go after each other in their battle of wits.
