'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu is out in cinemas and has been declared to be a box office success grossing more than 210 crores in worldwide collections. With the family entertainer delighting the Tamil superstar's fans everywhere, the countdown is now on for the highly-anticipated Thalapathy 67, which kicked off production earlier this month. The upcoming film touted to be an out-and-out action gangster flick marks the big reunion of Vijay and filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj after their 2021 blockbuster Master and has created tremendous excitement and curiosity among fans.

With Thalapathy 67 filming already underway, there has been quite a lot of debate regarding when the much-awaited official announcement of the high-profile project will be out, with Lokesh Kanagaraj informing media persons during an interaction recently that an update regarding the film will be made soon. For a while now, it has been stated that the Vijay-starrer is being produced by 7 Screen Studio's Lalit Kumar, who along with Lokesh Kanagaraj attended the launch of White Carpet Films' untitled third venture starring comedian Sathish and Simran Gupta in the lead roles on Wednesday, January 18. Lalit, who had earlier distributed Vijay's Master, addressed the press and informed that the Thalapathy 67 announcement will be out in another 10 days' time, which will also include the cast and crew details. Apart from Vijay, Thalapathy 67 has a confirmed star cast featuring the likes of Trisha Krishnan, Gautham Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Mysskin, while Rathna Kumar is penning the dialogues. With Anirudh Ravichander also said to be composing the songs and the background score for the film, there is a strong talk that big names like 'Action King' Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Nivin Pauly, Priya Anand, choreographer Sandy Master, Bigg Boss Tamil season 6 fame Janany, among others too will be seen in pivotal roles, with all eyes now on the big announcement set to be made in the days ahead.
