'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu continues to dominate the box office as the film has been declared to be a blockbuster everywhere it has been released. On Wednesday, January 18, the family entertainer's production banner Sri Venkateswara Creations dropped the big announcement that the film has crossed 210 crores in worldwide collections in seven days while extending their heartfelt gratitude to the fans for making it a phenomenal success. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally and featuring chart-topping music by S. Thaman, Varisu reached the 150-crore mark in global collections on the fifth day of the film's release after it opened in cinemas ahead of the Pongal festivities on January 11.
Varisu has been witnessing a huge family turnout in theatres as the young and the elderly have been thronging to witness Vijay in a light-hearted role compared to his previous films over the last few years, which have been more action-oriented. The mother-son and father-son bonding elements in the Tamil superstar's latest venture have connected well with audiences everywhere emotionally as many have also been going back for repeat viewings. There has also been a large demand for tickets for Varisu and the coast is clear for Vijay's film to keep progressing ahead in collections as there are not many big films coming out in the days going forward. Varisu has Vijay paired with Rashmika Mandanna for the first time, which also includes an ensemble star cast featuring the likes of R Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Srikanth, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Nandini Rai, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, VTV Ganesan, John Vijay, Bharath Reddy, Sanjana among others, while SJ Suryah makes a cameo appearance. There is also considerable debate regarding the deleted scenes in Varisu featuring Khushbu Sundar and John Vijay, which are expected to be released soon.
