The havoc of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues in India with over 4,000 people succumbing to the disease for a second consecutive day. As the number of new positive cases has dwindled down slightly with 3.62 lakh cases as per the official data and the rural areas showing slow signs of suffering, there have been a few positive developments in some urban areas. The Centre has been making attempts to do a makeover of the national vaccination plan as the lockdowns initiated by many states are gradually bringing down the number of coronavirus cases.

In that light, Tamil Nadu reported 30,621 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, with 297 COVID-19 related deaths and Chennai city recording 6,991 fresh cases. The number of new cases in Chennai shows a drastic drop from Wednesday when 7,564 cases were reported, with new hope that there will be further significant developments in view of the lockdown in the city to be tightened. As the state government continues to fight the pandemic, people from all walks of life are stepping forward in doing their part to help one another and to ward off the virus by either raising an awareness, volunteering in service efforts or extending contributions in various forms. Likewise, we had seen veteran actor Sivakumar and his sons Suriya and Karthi earlier this week meet the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and donate Rs. 1 crore to the COVID-19 relief fund in the state government's efforts to fight the pandemic.

Now, MK Stalin's politician-actor son and Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni MLA and the Youth Wing Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Udhayanidhi Stalin has made a donation of Rs. 25 lakhs to the Tamil Nadu CM COVID-19 relief fund. Udhayanidhi had met MK Stalin at the Secretariat earlier today and informed his followers on social media that they shall unite together in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Similarly, blockbuster director A. R. Murugadoss too had met Chief Minister MK Stalin and donated Rs. 25 lakhs to the corona relief fund. Fans on social media have been extending their wishes to Udhayanidhi Stalin and A. R. Murugadoss for their contributions and efforts to help the state government in the battle against the pandemic.
