India will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day on August 15 and 'Superstar' Rajinikanth has issued a statement ahead of the landmark occasion. The leading Tamil actor also shared a video of himself addressed to his fans on the importance of the glorious day on Saturday, August 13. In the video, Rajinikanth is seen dressed in white, while the tricolor Indian National Flag can be seen behind him, with the veteran actor talking about the struggles of the countless people who had laid down their lives for the freedom of the nation. 

Sharing a detailed text note on Twitter along with the hashtags #HarGharTiranga and #I_am_a_proud_Indian" in the tweet, Rajinikanth wrote, "This is the 75th year of independence for India.. our mother land. As a mark of respect, and as an expression of our unity... for all the lakhs of people who suffered untold struggles and miseries.. pain and humiliation.. for all those many thousands of people who scarified their lives selflessly for this freedom.. for all those freedom fighters, martyrs and leaders.. let us honour and salute them with gratitude.. beyond caste, religion and politics.. let us pass on our Indian National Flag to our next generation of kids and youngsters to be proudly displayed outside our homes, offices and work places. Let us celebrate the great Indian 75th Independence Day with pride... Let our national flag fly everywhere as we salute them. Jai Hind". Earlier, Rajinikanth had changed his profile picture to the Indian National Flag on Twitter on Thursday following which a flag was hoisted on the premises of his house in Chennai. On the work front, Rajinikanth is expected to join the sets of his next film, Jailer, on either August 15 or 22, which he had revealed during an interaction with the press a few days back. The upcoming film to be produced by Sun Pictures will see the iconic actor collaborating with Doctor and Beast director Nelson Dilipkumar for the first time, and is billed to be a mass action entertainer, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.
