The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus has been ravaging across the world for quite some time now and Tamil Nadu is currently in the second place on the list of most affected States in India. The number of people testing positive for the Virus is going up with each passing day but except for a few districts in the State, the lockdown relaxations have been relaxed in all the other places. But with 1,69,883 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu 86,224 and Delhi 85,161. Indian Government has announced a relaxed lockdown throughout the country till the end of July. Even after that, the theatres may not open in places like Mumbai and Chennai for quite some time. Having said that, we have two big film announcements being made now. When the road forward is foggy and unclear, the makers of two big Bollywood films have taken a huge gamble. It is now reported that Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s 83 would be hitting the screens for Diwali and Christmas 2020 respectively. It was earlier speculated that these film might release directly on OTT but it looks like the teams have decided to release on theatres instead. 
 
Sooryavanshi is directed by Rohit Shetty and written by Yunus Sajawal. Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Rohit Shetty. It is the fourth installment of Shetty's Police Universe and features Akshay Kumar as the titular character opposite Katrina Kaif. The film co-stars Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer, Vivan Bhatena and Javed Jaffrey, while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films. Initially scheduled for release on 24 March 2020, the film was then postponed for release in July 2020 and now again to Diwali due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
 
83 the film is a sports drama directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala and co-distributed by Reliance Entertainment. The film stars Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev, along with Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar and Amrita Puri. Tamil film actor Jiiva plays the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth. The film marks Jiiva’s official debut in Hindi. This film was earlier planned for April 10th release but now the makers have decided to push it to Christmas. Let’s hope things get better and both the films releases on theatres as per plan.
