Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran has scaled a new peak in worldwide collections as the Madonne Ashwin directorial has grossed 89 crores, producer Arun Viswa's Shanthi Talkies announced on Wednesday, August 9. The fantasy political film also starring Aditi Shankar, Mysskin, Saritha, and Yogi Babu, with a special voice-over done by 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, continues to witness a strong audience turnout in theatres and is all set to premiere next on Amazon Prime Video starting August 11. With the latest collections report for Maaveeran announced, all eyes will now be on the film to hit the 100 crore mark in the days to come, which in turn will make it the third occasion a Sivakarthikeyan-starrer reaches those numbers after his Doctor (2021) and Don (2022).

With Maaveeran inching toward the 100 crore mark, the film is yet another feather in the cap for Sivakarthikeyan, whose massive popularity among Tamil cinema audiences has once again been proven based on this latest collections report, thus declaring him to be a bankable star for filmmakers and producers. It is to be noted that Shanthi Talkies had earlier this week on Monday announced that the film hit the 75 crore mark in gross globally and the latest box office report shared today clearly shows the continued strong response. Fans have been sharing their support toward Maaveeran by showering praise for the story and the solid performances from the entire cast, especially Sivakarthikeyan, Mysskin, and Saritha, with the comedy by Yogi Babu receiving special appreciation.
Maaveeran is director Madonne Ashwin's second directorial after the political satire film Mandela (2021), which starred Yogi Babu in the lead role. Although some have stated that the second half of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer is not as strong as the first half, which included several laugh-out-loud moments, fans have appreciated the efforts of the team for delivering an entertainer that can be enjoyed in theatres with the entire family. Maaveeran, which has completed 25 days in its theatrical run, also witnessed a good response in Telugu too under the title Mahaveerudu, and will no doubt leave Sivakarthikeyan happy, thus showing that his popularity is soaring in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well.
