Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath's sudden and untimely demise on 31 May 2022 shook the entire Indian music industry. Popularly known as KK, he was an Indian playback singer who was regarded one of the best and most versatile singers of our country after being able to sing songs in multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati. He is best known for his songs like Zindagi Do Pal Ki from the movie Kites, Aankhon Mein Teri from the movie Om Shanti Om, Love Pannu from the movie 12B, Appadi Podu from the movie Ghilli and Mudhal Naal from the movie Unnale Unnale.

The singer breathed his last in Kolkata, where he had gone to perform at a concert organized by Gurudas College at Nazrul Mancha in South Kolkata. Kolkata Police has registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the sudden demise of singer on Tuesday night. The singer had fallen ill while performing at the event and was brought to the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) Hospital, where he was declared dead. He is survived by wife and two children.

The cause of the singer's death has not yet come to light. His body was sent for post-mortem which was conducted at 11 am today (1 June 2022) for which the report can be expected soon. Police said that after getting the family's consent and body identification process, an inquest and post-mortem was conducted. The mortal remains of KK will be handed over to the family after the postmortem.

Several celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, A.R. Rahman, Abhishek Bachchan, Vishal Dadlani and R. Madhavan among others have taken to social media to mourn the unfortunate passing of KK. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had also come forward to pay his last respects to KK on Twitter on Tuesday night.
