Silambarasan TR delighted fans to several treats on the occasion of his birthday earlier this week and one among them included the much-awaited teaser to his highly-anticipated film, Maanaadu. Touted to be a mass masala political entertainer, the Maanaadu teaser has been the talk of the town over the past couple of days, with fans debating and decoding the various aspects, including drawing comparisons with acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan's recently-released blockbuster Tenet. The time travel aspect that played a big factor in the events shown in the Maanaadu teaser set fans talking, with many recalling Nolan's Tenet and pointing out the similarities between the two films. 

As the Maanaadu teaser continues to be trending on social media, with fans discussing various details of the film, director Venkat Prabhu on Friday issued a statement after comparisons with Tenet flooded his social media page. Venkat Prabhu tweeted, "I am very honored that people are comparing our #maanaaduteaser with #tenet but unfortunately this ain’t connected with it!To be honest even I didn’t understand #tenet wait for our trailer!Then u might compare us with some other film!! ;)) #aVPpolitics". Venkat Prabhu, who fans will know for his fun multi-starrers, is for the first time teaming up with STR for a full-length feature film with Maanaadu, after the flamboyant star made a cameo in the 2010 hit Goa

Maanaadu has raised the curiosity among fans ever since the project was announced in mid-2018, with Simbu revealed to be playing the role of a Muslim for the first time in his career. His character in the film is named Abdul Khaaliq and the visuals in the teaser show us he is back in prime form in the action sequences, with fans already declaring on social media it to be an entertainer that will be celebrated in theatres. Apart from STR and Venkat Prabhu, another major USP for Maanaadu is the inclusion of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has in the past delivered chartbusters for both, with many expecting him to come out with memorable songs once again. 

A multi-starrer, Maanaadu also features names like Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead, followed by SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles.
