2021 has started off on a grand note for Silambarasan TR and his fans as the multi-talented star's Eeswaran has released in theatres worldwide on Thursday as a grand Pongal treat. With the excitement among Simbu's fans at an all-time high over the past few months ever since the actor left everyone stunned with his radical physical transformation, expectations for his upcoming projects have also shot up considering he has in his lineup promising films namely Maanaadu and Pathu Thala, with Poda Podi 2 in development, including speculations of him teaming up with directors like Ram and Mysskin.

STR, who has been treating fans to a line of updates, had sometime back announced that a motion poster for his upcoming film, Maanaadu, will be out as a Pongal treat, while the film's teaser will be released on his birthday on February 3. In that light, the highly-anticipated Maanaadu motion poster has been unveiled now and is on point in showing us the mass side of Simbu, which is no doubt set to satisfy the actor's ardent fans everywhere. Maanaadu is touted to be a mass masala political entertainer and will see STR playing the role of a Muslim for the first time in his career, with his character named to be Abdul Khaaliq.

Being directed by Venkat Prabhu under Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions banner and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, two major schedules on Maanaadu have already been wrapped up. It is to be noted that Maanaadu marks the first time Simbu, Venkat Prabhu and Yuvan are collaborating on a full-length film after the superstar appeared in an important cameo in the blockbuster director's 2010 hit Goa. The hype surrounding the project has also amplified with Yuvan Shankar Raja's inclusion as he has in the past delivered chart-busters for both Venkat Prabhu and STR's films, with expectations that the celebrated composer will churn out foot-tapping numbers once again.

Maanaadu was first announced in mid-2018, with the film including a diverse multi-star cast featuring names like Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead, followed by SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles. Another major highlight in Maanaadu is the stellar technical crew that includes talents namely Richard M. Nathan for the cinematography, Praveen K. L. for the editing, Rajeevan for the production design, action choreography by 'Stunt' Silva and costume designs by Vasuki Bhaskar.
